R W G Grindlay, who overturned his Salmson, fortunately without serious injury to his person. He won the up to 750cc sports car class in his Austin 7, and also competed in something called the Grindlay Special (of 1087cc, so perhaps a GN-type confection?).

Not sure of the Grindlay Special engine as 1087 cc was also the capacity of the 9hp Salmson in the photo.
