To Rudi Caracciola's* left are his wife Charlotte (Charly) who was tragically killed in a skiing accident in 1933, Madame Elisabeth Junek, the well-known Bugatti driver, and riding mechanic Otto Kuhnle. A Mercedes limousine behind, perhaps? *Even in contemporary reports, there was confusion about how to spell Caracciola. The Autocar favoured Caracciola, The Motor Carraciola. I believe that the concensus of opinion is that Caracciola is correct.

The correct spelling is Caracciola, one r only. Inspite of the Italian origin of the name he was native German.
