I was very excited to see this picture, because it would be the first time that I had found a rear view of A.E.Keen's 92 mph Cowley. However, in the article that Keen contributed to The Morris Owner of April 1924 about his car, the index letters of the registration can be seen to be BW, which are for Oxford C.C. Dec 1903 to Jun 1926. The car in the picture has the reg mark FC, Oxford CBC Jan 1903 to Dec 1925. Consequently, one questions whether the car in the LAT photo is Keen's after all. Addendum: I have doubts the car is based on a Morris. Robin Barraclough

The Inter-Varsity event at Aston Clinton on 3 March 1923. Another small piece of the jigsaw - the FC series reached 5000 in December 1922.

By a process of elimination, this is likely to be a Crouch. There were only six entries in the up to 1600cc class, Eaton's GN, McNeill's ABC, Walkley's Hillman, T G Lindley's Horstman racer and "two Crouch racers handled by T R Parker and C A S Parker".

The mechanical details and general proportions don't fit the Crouch identification. The mystery continues....
