This is the car I am presently restoring. If one looks at the picture of Malcolm Campbell in a Star after winning a race at Brooklands at Easter 1924 it may well be the same car in earlier form with artillery wheeels and a two-seat body, it is not yet clear if it is, as in this picture which is of Campbell after winning the 75 mph Short Handicap Race at the September meeting 1924. The wheels are different, the body is different but the interestring feature is that in both pictures the Star has the track rod in front of the axle. We think this was to allow for a longer three bearing 12/25 engine and I strongly suspect that it was, as Black Adder might have said 'a stunning ploy' to fool the handicappers, starting with a win in the rather mundane looking car at Easter and finishing with a second win in the newly streamlined car in September.

Has this car got splash feed as normal or has it been modified to have a pressure fed crankshaft? Also, does it still have its dural con rods?
