Is the "softly catch monkey" Lanchester painted with red and black stripes? There is definately a stripe of some kind.

Yes, Bill Boddy says "The body was painted in 16 inch wide vertical bands, alternately orange and black, to provide easy recognition when the car was running amongst a bunch of other cars or on the other side of the track, which dazzle-painting Hann adopted for all his cars."
