Obviously a 6-cyl., so just possibly an H.E.? David Manson, Sydney.

This is an HE. Amost certainly a one-off, built for a chap named Merton and driven by Tommy Hann. According to Bill Boddy's as ever invaluable Brooklands book it "had a special 4-cylinder 1980cc engine with 4 valves per cylinder, inlet and exhaust valves alternating down the head....A big Solex carburettor on the nearside....and there was a 3-branch external exhaust system on the opposite side". The same car appears competing at Porthcawl speed trials in June 1923 in a photo published in a contemporary magazine.
