According to DSJ's "Chain Drive to Turbocharger" the car is PG 4194. Seated on the back is Tommy Wisdom, the riding mechanic is AFN workshop foreman Tommy Doman and the man in the suit is Don Aldington. The mechanic with the centre parting is Bill James. James became Fane's regular mechanic in the late thiries and rode with him in a works BMW in the 1938 Mille Miglia. Postwar Bill James worked for Cooper Cars and later emigrated to Canada.
That is definitely Tommy Doman, my grandfather, with cigarette - he was always smoking!
