The section of scuttle immediately aft of the bonnet is akin to that of an Edwardian racing car. Could this be an old racer that has had its chassis lengthened and new (1920's) bodywork grafted onto the original?

This looks like the car shown on plate A1366 taken at the same meeting. The radiator shape under the cowl, design of the rear wheels, suggest an Edwardian FIAT.

Yes, this is Ernest Eldridge in the ex-Duff ex-Rampon 1910 10-litre Fiat. I believe this car is the one that was driven to such effect in VSCC races post-war by Dr Pinkerton.
