George Eyston's Type 43 Bugatti, competing in the second day's event, emulated the pyrotechnic tendency of Campbell's similar car in the 1928 TT and caught fire on the run down to Mountjoy corner. The fire was extinguished and Eyston continued to the pits, but the car was too badly damaged to continue.
