A S Llewellyn, I think. What a super photo - you can almost hear the wonderful sound of that tiny six-cylinder engine. The lettering on the tail is delightful.

Interesting: he is running on beaded-edge tyres, has a non-standard cowl fixed to the body ahead of the driver, even though the car is only a year old, and exhausting directly through the manifold without an exhaust-pipe.

An interesting one as Llewellyn is shown as a non-starter in the main event but the crowd looks too large for the practice day. Need to investigate further.

Cancel my previous comment. The photo is definitely from 5th May 1928 when Llewellyn set a time of 60.0 seconds in the Unlimited Racing Car Class.
