I think you are probably right, especially as the same car is seen in the Colmore trial in 1949 looking very similar. The caption came from the LAT database for this image.

In this photo, the car would appear to be a basically standard chummy with raised suspension. It has been very heavily modified by 1949 - note the front axle has been moved forward in the the Colmore Trial photo, and the whole car has progressed from its chummy origins.

This looks like the upper reaches of Bownham, a hill on the south side of the Chalford valley to the east of Stroud, Gloucestershire, possibly on the Gloucester Trial, but I haven't yet checked my records. Andrew.
