I'm not convinced that this is the correct event but it's what the LAT archive says it is.

Yes, it is the Southport MC 100-Miles Race held on 18 May 1929. Gunnar Poppe's Austin and the Brooklands Rileys of (I think) N de Larrinaga and J H Bartlett.

The Austin is Lewis Byrom in what was described as a s/c GE special (it is number 3). Gunnar Poppe was driving a works Supersports. The Riley in the background is number 25. See Austin Seven Competition History by Canning Brown page 100.
