nr. 4 or 24 is A F ASHBY in his RILEY. Later developments of his famous Brooklands model RILEY 9 (1100cc) 'Flat-Iron' led to winning the 1932 Duke of Yorks race lapping at 111mph. Probably the quickest UNBLOWN 1100cc pre-war. My late father owned the famous engine and other parts in late 1950s/early 1960's

Disabled Drivers' Handicap: L-R; No 8 A G Payne (O.M. entered by L C Rawlence); 30 B H Austin (Bugatti); 34 A F Ashby (Riley); 23 P Brough (Austin); 35 R A Pope (Deemster); 36 F J Bishop (Jowett). Ashby won, with Brough second and Payne third.
