This is a late CGSs Amilcar with side by side seating and 2 doors. No such 4 cylinder Amilcar model was entered for the race, could this car be being used as a practice car? If so, can anyone name the driver?

The Amilcar's driver is (I believe) Philip Turner, who because of family opposition raced as "J Taylor" (complete with inverted commas which one feels rather gave the game away). He was the entrant and riding mechanic/reserve driver of the Austro-Daimler brought home in fourth place by Cyril Paul.

I have another photo of this car at the same event but from a different angle. The subtitle suggests P.Mellor who entered and drove a Frazer Nash in the race is the driver of this CGSs Amilcar. The Phil Turner mentioned previously was a friend of Vernon Balls who probably imported and sold the Amilcar. On the strength of this perhaps Phil Turner is the more likely of the two.
