No 40 is George Newman and A Clark (Salmson). If the 3-litre Bentley behind Bill U D is no 11, it is the car of Tim Birkin, shared with his brother Archie until the others couldn't stand watching the latter's 'wild driving' any longer, and Frank Clement took over after he was forced to retire his own car.

I rather doubt that this A Clark is Allison Clark, Austin, although I don't know for sure.
