After a day at the races, I discovered that this car is one of the 2 'Lobsters', somewhat re-created in recent years and used in the Monaco historic. The car was pre-Hyper on an L type chassis with quarter eliptics They were built for the 200-Mile Race and preceded the Hyper. It used a standard crank, but with a Cozette blower. The steel crank and roller bottom-end designed by Baer and made by Shardlow came in 1928. The car was a single seater with central shift. If you compare a Hyper-Leaf radiator it is obviously not quite the same shell on this car. It uses a radiator which is lower and looks narrower than a Hper on this, the earlier car, the Lobster. The chassis was also fitted with a Miller engine at a later date.
