This was not part of the trial, which was for cars of 1500cc or less. At the end of the proceedings, an impromptu handicap race was arranged for anyone who fancied a go. The little 3-wheeler is a Harper Runabout, the handsome flared-wing tourer next to the Morgan is a Chenard-Walcker. Alvis, Vauxhall and Frazer-Nash can also been seen.
The odd vehicle next to the Morgan is a Harper Runabout. Somewhere I have read a road test and they appear to have been rather good, for what they were. It seems a bit outclassed on that grid. A Google search yields the following:- Harper Runabout 1921 - 1926 Avro Works, Newton Heath, Manchester The Harper was made by the well known body builders, A. V. Roe & Co. Ltd. of Manchester. The Harper Runabout was first made in 1921 and had a 269cc Villiers engine. It carried two people sitting, in tandem, of motor cycle seats. Production stopped in 1926.
