Sunbeam retiring. There is a dark geen car under that dried mud.Race number 16 was Lee Guinness or 9 Jean Chassagne. 21 was Seagrave's car.

I rather think this is probably Segrave's car. Is that not the gentleman himself bare-headed at the rear of the group at the pit counter? And his mechanic Jules Moriceau prepares to push on the nearside of the car.

Yes, very possibly Segrave - and I have alerted Neville Webb to the page, as he is currently restoring this very same car.

Did it retire from overheating? The radiator appears to be totally obstructed by dirt

This is open to argument or just commenting on. All three Sunbeams failed due to over-reving and either valve heads breaking, or big-end failure, due to a late change axle ratio and therefore a miss reading rev-counter. Chassange, race no. 9 and K.L.G. race number 16 retiring on the fifth lap and Segrave, race number 21 retiring on the 23/4th lap. All had been close to the winning Fiat’s pace up until the point of malfunction.
