The car behind No18 is a C6 Amilcar, without a number or identity of No18 it is difficult to identify who the Amilcar driver is as three different C6 Amilcars were competing at this meeting shared between four drivers!

I think this batch of photos were taken at the Middlesex County AC meeting held on 30 June 1928, rather than at the Surbiton MC meeting on 7 July. (Would that seem right, Austin?). The photos of Beris Harcourt Wood in the sand bank after he had skidded during the 50-Mile Handicap at the former meeting show that his racing helmet was light coloured, as was the car, which also sported the prominent front number plate YW 91. This one seems to have no number plate and the driver's helmet is dark. The Scotts' car was dark coloured. So was Vernon Balls competing at this meeting also, and could this perhaps be him?
