The site started out as somewhere to put some images I was researching on Austin 7 "Ulsters" while I was working at Haymarket, (the home of LAT and its fantastic archive). It quickly became apparent that there was a great interest for other cars so I decided to keep on scanning and putting the images online.
Although I have some knowledge of vintage cars and venues, it is the help in identifying and "tagging" the photos that has made the site what it is today. As more and more cars, people and venues get categorised it makes the search ever more powerful and thus finding the images that you after easier.
The technology side of it is for me relatively straight forward as I consult and help build complex websites for a living. The site is built using Drupal, so far it has had three major builds in versions 5, 6 and 7. The latest version is the most advance with the search now being powered by Apache Solr so that we can filter on anything that the photos have been tagged with.
If you, (or your company) need some help with your web presence get in touch and we can take it from there.
